WE WON!!!
Thanks to all of you who helped Roscoe
receive the World Fishing Network title of ‘THE ULTIMATE FISHING
TOWN USA”. While we always knew how special Roscoe is, we were happy
to see how many other folks, far and wide, shared our pride and love
for this place. Thank you for voting, for getting the word out to
your families, friends, colleagues, and everyone you knew to VOTE
for Roscoe. Every vote counted in this very tight race!!
This award and title will surely bring our tiny community the big
time recognition that it deserves, on an ongoing basis. We have
received several requests for production of filmclips and news
articles about the area, which we of course welcome. The $25,000
award from WFN has been used to build a footbridge in Riverside
Park, expanding the size of the park and providing additional access
to Junction Pool. We are currently developing a guided learning
program, DREAMCAST, to teach visitors and residents alike how to
fish --- starting with the basics. Again, thanks for helping to make
this all possible with your votes!!!!
Again, thanks!!!
Community Events
Roscoe’s
community spirit is thriving and the town continues to grow more and
more beautiful each year. We are active participants in the Sullivan
Renaissance Program, and are pleased to report that we have received
numerous recognitions for our revitalizations efforts. We have also
been consistently acknowledged for our showing of flowers in the
various gardens and parks that are spread throughout the hamlet. Two
lovely murals have been added to the sides of key buildings,
depicting outdoors scenes from our local watercolor artist, Jack
Yelle. Large wooden carved trout sculptures have been added to two
strategic locations – the town’s Western gateway and a pocket park
on Stewart Avenue. A new log sided Information Booth holds a place
of honor on Stewart Avenue. And finally, our “Down to the River”
project in 2009 resulted in the creation of Riverside Park, a true
showpiece of nature along the famous Willowemoc Creek.
The Golden Feather awards received in 2008 and 2010 were used
to redesign our sidewalks and streetscape ---- those projects are
nearing completion --- and to build a Veterans Memorial at the
Firehouse. The Main Street Grant provided selected property owners
with funds to improve their buildings. And the survey of Historic
Properties is currently in progress. We continue to move forward on
other opportunities to improve our community every day.

PLACE JUST CONTINUES TO GET BETTER
