World Class Fishing
When it comes to Trout Fishing, Roscoe New
York is the Top Destination in the East. Our town is located in the
Southwestern section of the Catskill Mountains in an area that is
blessed with rugged mountains, pristine rivers, lakes and ponds. These
waters are deep in history. This is where Fly Fishing luminaries such as
Theodore Gordon, Rube Cross and AE Hendrickson gave American Dry Fly
fishing its birth.
Today “Trout Town USA” is a haven for visiting
Fly Fishermen. With five of America’s top Trout Streams right in our
back yard its no wonder that our small town is home to 4 Fly Shops and
that some of the regions top Fly Fishing Guides and Fly Tyers call
Roscoe home.
Visiting Anglers will find world class Trout
Fishing at their doorstep. Just west of down town is where the Famous
Beaverkill and Willowemoc Rivers meet. It is here that you will find the
Famous Junction Pool, home of the legendary “Two Headed Trout”. This is
also the starting point of a parade of legendary pools such as
Hendrickson’s, Cairn’s and Wagon Track’s. These are classic Dry Fly
Pools that have been challenging anglers for hundreds of years.
Just a short ride west of town will reveal the
other Jewels of the region. It is here that anglers will find The East,
West and Main Stem of the Delaware River. These are large tailwater
rivers that provide world class Trout fishing throughout the summer
months. Together with the Beaverkill and Willowemoc these rivers combine
to offer visiting Trout Fishermen almost endless opportunity to wet a
line from April through October.
For the still water angler the mountains
around Roscoe are yours to explore. Not far from town is the Pepacton
Reservoir. The deep cold water of Pepacton regularly yields Brown Trout
in the 10 - 15 pound range. This reservoir is also known for superb
Smallmouth Bass fishing. In addition to Pepacton our mountains are dotted
with lakes and ponds that are too numerous to list, all teeming with
fish.
Come Cast a line in our waters, you’ll
be hooked for a lifetime!
